Cosmo's Confessions of a Wedding Planner-5 Signs A Couple Will Crash & Burn

After witnessing 50 to 80 weddings per year (and being exposed to behaviors that a couple doesn't always reveal to others), a wedding planner has identified some signs that scream "Red flag!" Here, she spills the predictors of whether a couple will live happily ever after or bite the dust.1. The Bride Refuses to Let the Groom Choose the Cake
"Brides are almost always more interested in the minutiae of wedding planning than grooms are. But when I encounter a woman who refuses to relinquish any control to her fiancé, it doesn't bode well. I can think of a few instances in which the woman ruled the event with an iron fist and the couple ended up in divorce court a few years later. Basically, they weren't able to make decisions together."
Want the flip side to each of these signs? Read
the complete article on Cosmo's official website.
2. The Groom Lets His Mom Call the Shots
"Most of my brides involve their moms in the planning process, and why wouldn't they? It's like having a second planner for free. But sometimes, grooms' mothers try to muscle in too, which is something I'll never understand. Not only is it inappropriate, but it's up to her son to tell her that."
3. The Bride Blows Half the Budget on Her Dress
"Weddings are pricier than ever, and money-related issues can cause a lot of undue tension. So when a bride goes behind her groom's back and splurges on a big-name dress or expensive flower arrangements, I start to get nervous. It's a huge sign that she doesn't respect him and refuses to compromise...and trust me, those tendencies don't disappear after she walks down the aisle. I have worked with tons of couples who fought viciously over the wedding
budget and learned later that many of them continued to argue and eventually split."
4. The Bride Freaks Over the Groom's Bachelor Party
"I've seen some women wig out about the possibility of her guy having a boys' night at a strip club. One client of mine even threatened to leave her fiancé if he had a
bachelor party. But my motto is: If you can't trust him, why the hell are you walking down the aisle?!"

Confessions of a Bachelor Party Stripper.
5. The Bride and Groom Fight in Front of Me
"No matter how in love two people may be, planning a ceremony and reception is overwhelming and will no doubt cause a few tiffs. But warning bells immediately start ringing for me if the couple gets really heated with each other in my presence.
Arguments are private, and dragging me into them shows that there is a lack of respect for each other and for their bond."

My Thoughts...
Did this article hit home with anyone? It sure did with me? None of us are perfect, we don't have perfect relationships either but if something in the article hit a nerve as it did with me, the GOOD NEWS is that it's never too late for any of us to change. We all need a little self reflection and often times, brides are so wrapped up in planning a wedding, they forget about what matters...Your marriage, your relationship, your commitment and your love for one-another. Don't ever forget what brought you 2 together in the first place. Sure, your wedding is the most important day of both your lives but in the end, make sure you never take your eye of the prize-each other! Go on! Attack him with kisses and hugs when he gets home and relax...

Cliques Photo Booth! An innovative & wildly fun addition to your special event or wedding

www.cliquesphotobooth.com

I have to take a moment and share this fantastic company with you that is making a huge impact on Special events in Southern California. In particular, Los Angeles & Orange County. There is nothing better then a Cliques Photo Booth for your event. Dov & John ( owners- are brilliant) They are fun, super smart and know exactly what my clients want. They just " get it". I have to admit, the standard photo booth just became a bit boring and when I discovered Cliques Photo Booth I was floored. It's a BLAST! How do I know this? I couldn't resist and jumped in for a photo shoot of my very own at a recent event they were at.I dressed up in several of their props ( all in nice, clean condition) I favored the Afro-disco wig, Elvis -like sunglasses- and a hot pink feather boa. My photos were printed on site in minutes with an amazing 3-D backdrop. Anyone who comes into my office always comments on how cool the photos are. I love that they will also incorporate any logo to print on the photo. What a great way to have your guests take home a special souvenir that will always remind them of your event. Cliques Photo Booth is perfect for Weddings, Birthdays, Bat & Bar Mitzvahs, Corporate Events, Night Clubs etc. I highly recommend checking these guys out or contact me and I will tell you all about my experience with this vendor and we can brainstorm ideas for your special event.

Just check them out! At the very least, you will get a kick out of watching their videos and browsing through photos of their events.

Smile & Say Cheese!

Wedding Cupcakes! The Wedding trend that is still Hotter than ever!

www.vanillabakeshop.com

Cupcakes keep popping up again and again at receptions and special events as a way to save money on your event whole adding a bit of whimsical fun. Are cupcakes really a good alternative to a wedding cake though?

COST: Normally the determining factor. When wedding cupcakes first became a trend, they were touted as a great way to save money. You could purchase each cupcake for $2-3 dollars a piece rather than $4 or $5 per slice for cake. Bakers soon caught on that doing wedding cupcakes are just as time consuming if not more – than a traditional cake. In the end, it all comes down to choices your choice.

WAYS TO SAVE $: Cupcakes are simple to make and if you purchase some decorating tools and practice a bit you may be even to make these yourself. Invite some of your bridesmaids over and make it a fun night of Cupcakes & Cocktails.

WHO I RECCOMEND: If you are in LA- Vanilla Bake Shop-Santa Monica- In Orange County- Sprinkles Cupcakes- Newport Beach or Mrs. Beasleys- Costa Mesa. In New York- Magnolias or Buttercup bakery -Miami-The little cupcake stand or Heavenly cupcakes.

One of the most inexpensive ways to enhance your wedding or event... LIGHTING!!!

Paper Lanterns with Strings & Bulbs Lighting has become a major component to weddings, outdoor party's or large events. Creating your own custom lighting using Paper Lanterns and Strings & Bulbs is really simple. Try a fantastic website I like to reccomend to my clients, http://www.partylights.com/.

This photo above shows a beautiful array of colored lights and lanterns hung these in a tree, but these can be added to any tent, gazebo or any other application you have.Remember you can use paper lanterns as an inexpensive alternative to uplights and par cans. The wonderful thing about paper lanterns, is they can be put on any light bulb. So, if you already have your lighting in place, just add some paper lanterns around for your next party to add that extra touch. Lighting is truly one of the best and most inexpensive ways to enhance any event, set the mood and of course, your photos will look fantastic too!
Feel free to post your questions on the blog and I will get back to you with a response shortly. Enjoy your planning!

The Beautiful St. Regis Monarch Beach in Dana Point is 4 Sale!

The companies that own the resort are in default on a $70-million loan from Citigroup Global Markets Realty Group, people knowledgeable about the debt said Tuesday.
Negotiations continue in an effort to avoid an auction, according to those sources. But unless something is worked out, the St. Regis will go on the block July 7, to be sold to the highest bidder, according to a "terms of public sale" document obtained by The Times.

Pelican Hill Resort & Spa - One of the worlds finest hotels to host your wedding

Sometimes you simply have to appreciate the finer things in life...

I am currently working with a wonderful new couple who is planning there wedding in Jan 2010. They certainly have exquisite taste and have already toured several of Southern California's finest Resorts & Hotels including, The St. Regis Monarch Beach, Montage, The Ritz Carlton and hopefully next week they will tour what is in my opinion the Creme De La Creme of Resorts, The Pelican Hill Resort & Spa located on California's Newport Coast. It is pure magnificence, pure decadence and absolutely breathtaking.

The Director of Weddings George Knickels and staff Fran, Emily and several other fantastic individuals who make up their team are just a delight to work with. They embody what service and hospitality is meant to be and even though they may rub shoulders with some very powerful people, they allow everyone to feel at home and welcome. I look forward to sending my newly engaged couples to the resort for a tour of the property and I highly recommend you stop by the Golf Club's Cafe for lunch while taking in the view...
